Update [31/07/2019 @ 1:25 PM]: Images and Official Teasers
Images of the flagship Nubia Z20 are now live on the TENAA listing today and they clearly reveal a curved screen design. It’s now evident that many Chinese handset makers will be treading onto Samsung territory in the second half of 2019 with OPPO, Vivo, and some more. Moreover, a Nubia teaser posted today on social media itself has also confirmed the curved OLED panel. It’s also confirmed that there will be no pop-up camera, thanks to TENAA’s indication of a secondary 5.1-inch display on the rear of the Nubia Z20. There’s a triple camera on the rear of the device placed horizontally with two LED flash modules on either side of the camera mod. We expect a wide-angle lens to be added into the mix as the Nubia X did not have one. The handset will follow in the footsteps of the Nubia X design but will have improved internals.
ZTE’s Nubia sub-brand had launched the flagship Z18 smartphone in China in September last year, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. The successor to Nubia’s Z18 has now been certified by TENAA in China, suggesting the company’s next flagship could be unveiled very soon. While TENAA is yet to publish images of the smartphone, the agency has revealed pretty much all its key specifications.
Nubia Z20 Specifications Revealed
According to the TENAA listing, Nubia Z20 has not one but two display panels. The primary display on the front is a 6.42-inch OLED panel with 1080 x 2340 pixels Full HD+ resolution. On the back of the phone is a smaller 5.1-inch OLED panel with the same Full HD+ resolution. Under the hood, the listing reveals the Z20 will have an octa-core processor clocked at 2.956 GHz. Going by the clock speed, we’re guessing it could be Qualcomm’s all-new Snapdragon 855+.
Moving on to the memory configurations, the Nubia Z20 will be available in three variants: 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 256GB storage, and 12GB RAM + 512GB storage. In terms of optics, the phone will have a dual-camera setup at the rear with a 48MP primary sensor and a 16MP secondary sensor. The smartphone will be fueled by a 3900mAh capacity battery with fast charging support. As for physical dimensions, the Nubia Z20 measures 158.63 x 75.23 x 9.2mm and weighs in at 186 grams.
Unsurprisingly, the flagship smartphone will debut with the Android 9.0 Pie operating system out of the box. It will be available in two color options at launch: Red and Black. The TENAA listing confirms the presence of a fingerprint sensor as well, although it isn’t clear if it will be positioned on the back of the phone or on the side.
