Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch launched; specifications and price

The Fossil Gen 5 is the latest smartwatch from the US-based Fossil Group to go official. The Wear OS driven smartwatch continues to sport a stylish appeal like the earlier models, and is now available for purchase in the US.

Fossil Gen 5 Specifications and Features

The Fossil Gen 5 comes in Juliana HR edition to target the female audience. For males, Fossil Group is selling the Carlyle model. Both editions come in three design variants. The Fossil Gen 5 Juliana HR and Carlyle models measure 12mm in thickness and have a case size of 44mm.

The Fossil Gen 4 was powered by Snapdragon 2100 SoC and 4GB of RAM, and came with 512MB of storage. Its successor is fuelled by the latest Snapdragon 3100 chipset. It is accompanied by 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. With the new processor onboard, the Fossil Gen 5 is expected to deliver better battery lifer than the predecessor. On a single charge, the smartwatch is expected to last around 36 hours with regular use. With rapid charging support onboard, it can gain 80 percent battery power by charging it for an hour.

The Wear OS driven Fossil Gen 5 can be paired with Android 4.4+ and iOS 9.3+ devices. It comes with support for Google Assistant and Google Pay, and features Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n for connectivity.

The Fossil Gen 5 is a 3ATM swim-proof device. For fitness, it offers users features like activity tracking, customisable goals and heart rate tracking. Some of the other features of the smartwatch include watch apps, music control, untethered GPS, NFC, LED flashlight and interchangeable straps.

The Fossil Gen 5 Juliana HR edition can be availed in three options including Black Stainless Steel, Rose God-Tone Stainless Steel and Blush Leather. On the other side, the Fossil Gen 5 Carlyle edition comes in three models that include Black Silicone, Smoke Stainless Steel, and Dark Brown Leather. The two variants of the Fossil Gen 5 carry a price tag of $295 each.
