Watchmaker Fossil has been quite in the Indian market. The brand had launched Fossil Hybrid HR in January last year. Today, Fossil has introduced a new smartwatch called Fossil Gen 5e in India. It had debuted in the US last October.
The Fossil Gen 5e is a toned-down variant of the Fossil Gen 5. It is offered in two sizes and multiple colour options. Both variants carry the same price tag. The smartwatch runs on Wear OS by Google. Let’s take a look at what the Fossil Gen 5e offers out of the box.

The Fossil Gen 5e can be availed in 42mm or 44mm dial sizes. Both variants feature an AMOLED display measuring 1.19-inches and bearing 390 x 390 pixels resolution. There is an Always-on display feature and available watch faces for customisation. The smartwatch is water-resistant up to 3 ATM and there is a single button on the right side.
The Fossil Gen 5e is equipped with a PPG heart rate sensor, off-body IR, gyroscope, and accelerometer. The wearable device is capable of tracking distance, step count, calorie and sleep. It comes with Google Fit for tracking various activities. The Fossil Gen 5e features a built-in speaker and microphone to answer incoming calls.
Users can also control smart home devices via Google Assistant. Other features include controlling music playback, making contactless payments, social media and email notifications, calendar, weather updates etc.
The Fossil Gen 5e is powered by a dated Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor paired with 1GB RAM. It offers 4GB onboard storage for music and downloading third-party apps from Google Play Store like Nike Run Club, Spotify, Noonlight etc. The smartwatch runs on Wear OS by Google and is compatible with Android 6.0+ and iOS 12.0 or later.
The Fossil Gen 5e is backed by up to 24 hours of battery life and is claimed to deliver 80 percent charge in 50 minutes. The device comes with daily, extended, time only and custom mode for extending the battery life. The smartwatch ships with WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and NFC.
