Samsung recently released its Android 9 Pie update roadmap, revealing the expected rollout timeframe for Galaxy smartphones eligible to be updated to the latest Android version. According to the latest roadmap, the mid-range Galaxy A6 (2018) is set to receive the Android Pie update in April. The handset has now been spotted on Geekbench running on Android Pie, suggesting the rollout may well begin on time.

Galaxy A6 Running Android 9.0 Appears on Geekbench Database

The Galaxy SM-A600P running on Android 9 Pie managed to achieve 1,221 points in the single-core test and 4,045 points in the multi-core test on Geekbench. These scores are actually higher than the average scores that the smartphone currently achieves on Android Oreo. The impressive scores suggest the Android Pie update for the Galaxy A6 (2018) might offer improved performance when compared to the current firmware. However, owners of the mid-range Galaxy smartphone will still need to be patient, as the stable Android Pie rollout will only begin in April. Since it is a major upgrade, it might take a few weeks for Samsung to finish pushing the update to all users.

Samsung will begin pushing the Android Pie update for its flagship Galaxy Note 9, Galaxy S9, and Galaxy S9 Plus smartphones this month. In February, the Pie update will be rolled out to the Galaxy Note 8. Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus owners, on the other hand, will need to wait until March to receive the update. Apart from the Galaxy A6 (2018), a few other Galaxy A-series and Galaxy J-series smartphones will be updated to Android 9.0 in April. These include the Galaxy A6 Plus, Galaxy A7 (2018), Galaxy A8+ (2018), Galaxy A8 Star, Galaxy A9 (2018), Galaxy J2 (2018), Galaxy J2 Core, Galaxy J4, Galaxy J6+, and Galaxy On7. Samsung’s current flagship tablet, Galaxy Tab S4 will also receive the Android Pie update in April.
