Samsung attracts a lot of attention with its flagship devices. In 2019, the company is reportedly looking to launch the Galaxy S10 in three different variants. The S10 will be the company’s 10th Anniversary smartphone and the successor to Galaxy S9. Korea-based news, The Bell has shed some light on the Galaxy S10 variants. The details reveal the debut of in-display fingerprint sensor as well as a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. It also claims that the three models of S10 will be internally called ‘Beyond 0’, ‘Beyond 1’, and ‘Beyond 2’. The devices will also come with different specifications and will be targeted in different segments. Let’s take a look at the details of these different models:
There have been various speculations that the Galaxy S10 will have Fingerprint On Display (FOD). Two out of three models are said to include the in-screen fingerprint sensor. ‘Beyond 0’ will likely be an entry level model of the flagship phone and is expected to sport a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The Galaxy S8 and S9 had rear-mounted fingerprint sensor which many users found it out of place. But if the reports are true, then the S10 codenamed ‘Beyond 0’ could be the first Samsung phone with fingerprint sensor on the side.
The other two variants will be Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ codenamed as ‘Beyond 1’, and ‘Beyond 2’ respectively. Both the phones will feature fingerprint on display. The higher variant named the S10+ will reportedly sport a large display compared to its siblings. It will also be equipped with a triple-rear camera setup, something we have seen on the Huawei P20 Pro.
The optical fingerprint sensor on the FOD (fingerprint on display) module will be supplied by Qualcomm and will reportedly cost seven times more expensive than the conventional rear-mounted fingerprint sensors. However there is still no word on the pricing as well as the technical specifications of the device. All these are just rumors, which means users will have to wait for the official launch to know more.
