Gionee S9 With Dual Rear Cameras, 4G VoLTE Launched

On: November 15, 2016

As expected, Gionee has come up with a new phone dubbed Gionee S9 in China. Last week, we reported that there is an event scheduled in China for November 15th where the company is expected to take the wraps off the Gionee S9. Since the day it got certified in China a couple of weeks ago, speculations were around the corner that Gionee S9 will make an entry anytime soon.

Let’s quickly take a look at its specifications: The Gionee S9 comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD LTPS 2.5D curved glass screen. Under the hood, a 2GHz eight-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor is paired with 4GB LPDDR3 RAM and Mali T860 GPU for graphics. The phone features an internal memory of 64GB that can be expanded up to 128GB with the help of microSD card support.

The Gionee S9 is based on Amigo OS 3.2 skin on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. It is a hybrid Dual-SIM phone with nano-SIM slots. Meaning, there is no dedicated microSD card slot. It has a metal unibody design, packing in a 3000mAh non-removable battery.

What’s special about this phone is a dual rear camera setup comprising a 13-megapixel and a 5-megapixel shooter (with dual-tone LED flash), something Gionee was teasing for around a week. On the front, there is also a 13-megapixel front-facing camera, which does not sound bad on paper. Connectivity options include 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.

The Gionee S9 will be available in China starting November 25th for 2499 Yuan (approximately Rs 26,999). However, there are no words if or when the Gionee S9 will launch in India.
