Gionee Steel 2 With Bigger 4000mAh Battery Launched

Gionee has come up with a new phone dubbed Gionee Steel 2 in China at the price of 1,299 yuan, which converts approximately at Rs 12,805 in Indian currency. Meanwhile, let’s find out what the newly unveiled Gionee Steel 2 is all about. Last month, Gionee announced Gionee M2017 with a humongous 7,000mAh battery. The company is apparently expanding its smartphones line with more bigger battery phones.


On the front, Gionee Steel 2 has 1,280 x 720 pixels stretched across a 5-inch screen, resulting in 267 PPI pixel density. What powers this phone is a MediaTek MT6737 quad-core chip clocked at 1.25GHz and combined with Mali-T720 GPU for graphics. The phone in question comes in two storage variants 16GB and 32GB, expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card slot. However, both the varaints feature a solitary 3GB of RAM for multi tasking and real-time computing.

The Dual-SIM Gionee Steel 2 flaunts a brushed metal finish at the back. It measures 144.3×70.5×8.6 mm and weighs 140 grams. The device runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system with Amigo 3.5 UI on top. On the camera front, it houses an 8MP rear camera as well as a 5MP front-facing camera for selfies. In terms of the connectivity, it features 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and microUSB 2.0 port. Under the hood, it packs in a bigger 4000mAh battery.


Gionee recently signed cricketer Virat Kohli as its brand ambassador in India. The move came right after ex Indian team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni stepped down from his captainship. That said, Gionee is also expected to launch a new smartphone in India before MWC 2017 commences in Spain late next month.
