Goodbye Trailer and Story
Goodbye revolves around a dysfunctional and disjoined family. Harish (Amitabh Bachchan) is the head of the family and lives with Gayatri (Neena Gupta). Gayatri tries calling all her children – Tara, Karan, Nakul, and Angad; however, none receive the call or respond to the message. She passes away, and Harish tries to reach out to the children and faces the same. However, they soon find out and return home to Chandigarh. Upon reaching her home, Tara discovers that the final rights of Gayatri are being done against what she believed in and keeps her disagreement constant throughout the rights, eventually arguing with her father, Harish. Karan and Angad also don’t feel the loss emotionally, and this lead to several fights in the household constantly. However, none of them have a choice, and they live with it for a few days under one roof. However, will the equations change? Will they grow closer again? If so, what would bring about the change and evoke the motions once again? These questions are answered by Bahl’s Goodbye.
Critics and fans gave positive reviews for the film, calling it an emotional ride packed with tears and joy. Some mentioned that the film has heart-warming and heart-breaking moments which strike a chord with the audience, eventually making one think about or remember their loved ones. It also showcases ways many families today cope with grief and sorrow using laughing and other means. While Amitabh Bachchan and Neena Gupta’s work was appreciated, some critics also mentioned that the film’s storyline and depressive tone could have been changed to make it even more interesting.
Goodbye Box Office Performance
Despite impressive reviews, Goodbye did not make a mark with the box office collections. As of October 13, 2022, the film collected merely Rs. 8.74 crores through theatrical collections.
