It has been a couple of months since we first started seeing the renders and with it information about the upcoming Nexus smartphones. Towards the end of last month, the rumours started flying that the upcoming Nexus phones will not be called Nexus, but in fact Pixel, which will mark the retirement of the legendary nexus line of phones. Since then, practically every day there is a new information or leak around the Pixel devices. We know so far that the devices will be manufactured by HTC, they will have a metal and glass design and there will be two variants launched; A Pixel and a larger Pixel XL smartphone.
The two phones are expected to come with similar industrial design, unlike last year, where Google ensured that the Nexus 6P was the more premium device while the 5X was for those who did not want to shell out top dollar but still wanted a good Nexus lead experience. With the lineup of 2016, that is set to change, with Google taking the path that Apple has taken with the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.
If we have got you excited for the upcoming Pixel devices, you would be glad to know that Google has confirmed the launch date of the devices. As expected, it would on October 4th when Google will showcase Google Pixel and Pixel XL. You can stay up to date with all the latest from the launch by signing up with Google here.
