In April, Google launched its smart speakers, the Home and Home Mini in India. The speakers have since been available exclusively through Flipkart. The Home and Home Mini were originally priced at Rs 9,999 and Rs 4,999 respectively.
Earlier in June, Amazon slashed the price of its smart speaker line-up, which goes by the name of Echo. The standard sized Echo was made available for Rs 8,999 which was originally priced at Rs 9,999. The Echo Dot on the other hand, now bears a price tag of Rs 4,099 instead of Rs 4,499. With increasing competition from its rival Amazon, Google has now decided to cut down price of its smart speakers as well.
After the price cut, the Google Home is now available at Rs 8,499. The Home Mini, on the other hand retails at Rs 3,699. Flipkart also has bundled additional discount offers which are sure to attract buyers. It is offering an additional discount of Rs 1,000 if users purchase two units of Home or Home Mini. Users can avail 10% cashback on making payment through HDFC bank credit cards. Axis bank users are entitled to a 5% instant discount on payment through credit card. Last but not least, Google is offering six months of free Play Music subscription for first-time users.
To recall the specifications, the Google Home is the larger variant of the two which bears a cylindrical shape. While the Home Mini has a pebble like shape with a compact form factor. There are LED indicators on the top to display information such as volume and activity. The Home Mini has the same basic functionalities and features as the Google Home. Both the variants are available in Chalk, Charcoal, & Coral color options.
Google’s smart speakers are also available offline across 750 retail outlets throughout the country. With the price cut Google looks to stay in the smart speaker game giving a tough competition to Amazon Echo.
