We all already know that the next version of Google’s smartwatch operating system, Android Wear 2.0 is arriving on Feb 9th. Apart from this, a recent leak also claims that Google has teamed up with LG, just like Nexus-style to bring its first ever wearable devices powered by Android Wear 2.0 dubbed as LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style.
The search giant is planning to unveil these smartwatches along with the announcement of Android Wear 2.0 on 9th February. According to the sources, the company will start selling these smartwatches in the US on very next day of the announcement. However, the availability of the devices in other region is expected to late February and March.
The company is also planning to showcase these smartwatches at Mobile World Congress at LG’s booth which is starting on 29th February. As per the current reports, both the models of watches will sport a circular plastic OLED display. The LG Watch Sport is the bigger one with the higher-resolution display and 768MB RAM and 430mAh battery. Whereas, the LG Watch Style features a 500MB RAM and 240mAh battery. The internal storage is same for the both the watches – 4GB.
Both the devices feature Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, while the Sport model also flaunts GPS, NFC and cellular connectivity including 3G and LTE. The watches also come with iOS compatibility. Thanks to the NFC radio, the Sport model is also compatible with Android Wear 2.0’s Android Pay. The watches also come with water and dust resistance with IP68 and IP67 certification for Sport and Style model respectively. Additionally, the Android Wear also includes Google Assistant integration, a new way to complete tasks and chat with the Google search engine.
