Google Nest Mini with improved audio and wall mount launched in India for Rs 4,499

The Google Nest Mini is the successor to the Google Home Mini and brings improved bass with on-board machine learning at the same price tag as its predecessor. While the smart speaker flaunts the same hockey puck shape as its predecessor, it can now be mounted on the wall. The smart speaker that was launched alongside the Google Pixel 4 lineup in New York last month, has now arrived at Indian shores. Let’s take a look at what the latest from Google’s smart speaker series has to offer.

Google Nest Mini specifications and features

The Google Nest Mini comes with improved audio and an intercom feature

One of the biggest improvements in the Nest Mini is the enhanced sound signature. According to Google, the Nest Mini has two times stronger bass than the Google Home Mini that was launched in 2017. To achieve the improved sound, Google has utilised a custom driver and proprietary tuning software to improve the bass and enhance the overall audio output. The new Nest Mini can also sense ambient sound to modulate the audio output. The Nest Mini also comes with a new Intercom feature, which allows users to receive calls from other devices like their smartphones and/or speaker or smart display.

The new smart speaker also has a proximity sensor, which can detect when your hand is close to it and light up the buttons for volume adjustment and power off. As part of the Nest ecosystem, users can create different groups in the Google Home app and play music wherever they want in the house. For example, you can move the music from the kitchen to the living room by simply saying “Hey Google, move the music to the living room speaker.” Other features of the speaker include an extra microphone, dedicated machine learning chip, support for Hindi language and an easy wall mount.

The latest speaker brings support for YouTube Music, Spotify, Gaana, JioSaavn and Wynk. Google Nest Mini users can also stream songs on Gaana without ads for free.

Google Nest Mini price in India and availability

The Google Nest Mini has been launched in India in two colourways: Chalk and Charcoal. The brand also offers the speaker in a brighter Coral and light blue colour options internationally, but these variants will not be available in India at launch. The Google Nest Mini has already gone up for sale on Flipkart starting today. As mentioned before, the Google Next Mini costs the same as Google Home Mini, which means users will have to shell out Rs 4,499 to get their hands on one.
