Google Pixel 2’s launch is highly anticipated and as we inch closer towards the phone’s launch, more rumours are pouring in. Similarly, Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship Snapdragon 836 is equally awaited. Now, rumours are abuzz that Google Pixel 2 might be the first device to sport the blazing fast Snapdragon 836.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 is a successor to the Snapdragon 835, the SoC which features in most of the flagships launched this year including OnePlus 5, HTC U11 and a variant of Samsung Galaxy S8 among others. Although the CPU and GPU in the Snapdragon 836 might be the same as of 835, it is expected to clock at higher speeds. This will significantly improve the phone’s performance and make it even faster.
Previously, it was also tipped that the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, which is set to launch on August 23rd, will come with the new Snapdragon 836. However, fresh reports claim that Google Pixel 2 might be the first such device to come with the flagship processor.
According to some reports as well as listings in benchmark sites, Qualcomm will possibly launch a new lineup of chipsets in the 840 series. The Snapdragon 840 and the 845 have been spotted in a benchmark tests as well. It is also being speculated that Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 might launch with Samsung’s next year’s flagship, Galaxy S9.
It will be interesting to see faster and more efficient chipsets powering our smartphones in the upcoming months. Even though we have to wait for the Snapdragon 840 series to arrive, the Snapdragon 836 might launch this year itself, possibly with the Pixel 2.
