Google launched the Google Pixel 4 series of smartphones last year and is reportedly going to launch the lite variant in the series, the Google Pixel 4a pretty soon. Well, that’s something we will keep an eye on. For now, let’s talk about the Google Pixel 4. Though the device has been around for a considerable amount of time now, but it has again popped up on the internet courtesy of the latest Geekbench database listing it has got spotted now. This time, there is no new RAM variant that we have caught it touting. It is the Android version that’s caught our attention. As per the Geekbench listing, the Google Pixel 4 device is found running on the Android R version.
While this is a pretty interesting development, one should keep in mind that Geekbench scores can easily be manipulated and spoofed, so we might as well take it with a pinch of salt as of now. Furthermore, Google itself has not revealed much about its plans for the upcoming Android version.
Google Pixel 4 Running on Android 11 Caught on the Geekbench Database
As seen in the Geekbench listing image, the device has scored 712 in the single-core test and 2,181 in the multi-core test. The 6GB RAM variant of the device has been found running on Android R. This could potentially mean that the Android R Developer Preview might be just around the corner.
As of now, we have heard little about Google’s upcoming iteration of Android owing to the fact that the current Android 10 is yet to be rolled out to a significant chunk of the Android smartphones out there and the major portion of the Android ecosystem still runs on the ‘dated’ Android 9 Pie. We can only expect that Google will start the Android R Developer Preview in the coming months. Nevertheless, this is a clear indication of the same.
