Google is all set to launch its next flagships – the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL in the next few months. Last month, Pricebaba partnered with Steve Hemmerstoffer, aka OnLeaks to bring you an exclusive first look at the upcoming Pixel 4 based on leaked schematics. Interestingly, the Mountain-view giant went ahead and teased an image of the smartphone soon after, which was almost completely in line with the render. Now, Pricebaba has partnered yet again with OnLeaks, this time to bring you high-resolution 5K renders and a 360-degree video of the larger Pixel 4 XL.
Google Pixel 4 XL renders and 360-degree video
As you can see in the renders, the design of the Pixel 4 XL is quite similar to the Pixel 4 renders we published earlier. What’s clearly visible now is a thick bezel on top, and a slightly slimmer one for the chin below. The display still seems to feature a tall aspect ratio, and OnLeaks has confirmed it will measure roughly 6.25 inches. The top bezel seems to be housing dual cameras as well as two unknown sensors.
OnLeaks also mentions that there’s a large hollow with room for unknown parts on the right side of the forehead, next to the earpiece. This could potentially accommodate Soli Radar components for touchless gesture interactions or a Face ID-type module. Alternatively, since there’s no physical fingerprint sensor on the device, we might also see an in-display fingerprint scanner. As for the overall dimensions, OnLeaks claims that the Pixel 4 XL will measure 160.4 x 75.2 x 8.2mm, with the thickness being 9.3mm around the camera bump.
The rear panel is crafted from glass, and features a monotone design. OnLeaks notes that in the standard renders and 360-degree video, the camera bump appears to be thicker than it is because of the glass reflection. The 5K renders display the actual representation of the camera bump thickness.
On the rear panel, we can see three cameras laid out in a triangular formation in the square camera bump, along with a microphone and LED flash. A recent leak has suggested that the secondary camera will be a telephoto lens, as revealed by the Google Camera code. This hints that the Google Pixel 4 XL might feature optical zoom that’s all the rage nowadays. While there’s no word on what’s the third camera module is for, it could be a 3D ToF sensor.
The remaining ports and elements are standard Pixel, with the power button with volume keys on the right, and a USB Type-C port on the bottom. However, what has changed is that the phone no longer offers front-firing speakers as seen on previous devices. Instead, we can see dual speaker grills on either side of the Type-C port. As expected, the phone is missing the 3.5mm audio jack.
Google Pixel 4 XL rumoured specifications
There’s not much known about the Pixel 4 XL at the moment. However, what we do know is that the smartphone will come packing the latest Snapdragon 855 SoC, with up to 6GB RAM accompanying it. This is good news as the 4GB RAM on the previous-generation Pixels caused serious RAM management issues for users. The Pixel 4 duo are also expected to boot the upcoming Android Q out of the box. The camera code that we mentioned before also revealed that Google might bring minor upgrades to its popular Night Sight mode.
As of now, no other information is available, except that there will be an all-new ‘Mint Green’ colour variant along with usual white and black this year. Google is speculated to launch the upcoming flagships in October 2019.
