Google Pixel 4A launch confirmed for August 3rd

Google has confirmed that its much-awaited Pixel 4A smartphone will be announced on August 3rd. The brand has put up a dedicated microsite for the upcoming smartphone on its online store. While the company has not specified the name of the phone set to launch on August 3rd, the hints on the website and previous rumours confirm that it’s indeed the Pixel 4A that’s coming.

Notably, the Google Pixel 4a was earlier scheduled to launch at Google I/O in May, which got cancelled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Google to launch Pixel 4A on August 3rd

The Pixel 4A microsite shows the silhouette of the smartphone with the August 3rd date in bold. Google also seems to have hinted at the Pixel 4A by saying it’s ‘The Google Just What You’ve Been Waiting For Phone’, referring to the long wait for the device.

Google has played a game here as well, as upon the first visit, you will only see grey blocks where the words are on top, which change colours upon clicking. In order to reveal the text on top, you have to match the colours in the order they appear in Google logo to reveal the text.

Additionally, there’s the famous Latin jargon – “‘lorem ipsum” on the page, which has been customised to hide several clues regarding the upcoming launch. Some of these fake Latin clues include ‘videus chatam’, ‘macro’, ‘lowlightena capturum’, ‘Blurtutate Bokehus’, and ‘longlastingis batterum’.

Apart from this, Google has also made changes to its Twitter handle with new banner image showing a black circle in the top left corner, hinting at the punch-hole cutout. Notably, the Pixel 4A is rumoured to be the first Pixel smartphone to feature a punch-hole display.
