Google Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro cameras specs leak
The Google Pixel 8’s rear camera setup will have two cameras, a ToF sensor, a microphone, and an LED flash. The vanilla model will be equipped with a Samsung ISOCELL GN2 50-megapixel primary camera, which is capable of intaking 35 percent more light than its predecessor. Hence, it will be able to produce better results in dim-light conditions. It is also expected to support up to 30fps 8K video recording.
The main snapper is also expected to support the Staggered HDR feature, which aims to minimise the time gap between the frames captured for HDR, resulting in reduced ghosting and a faster overall capture process.
The primary camera sensor of the Pixel 8 is expected to be accompanied by the Sony IMX386 12-megapixel camera, which has been utilized since the Pixel 6 series. The report states that it will offer 0.55x zoom instead of the 0.67x zoom that was seen on the predecessor model. To offer a better autofocus experience, the Pixel 8 will inherit the STMicroelectronics VL53L1 ToF sensor from the Pixel 7 series.
The Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 Pro will have the Samsung 3J1 11-megapixel front-facing camera. It is the same selfie snapper that is available on the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro.

The Google Pixel 8 Pro’s rear camera module will have three cameras. The setup will be headlined by the Samsung ISOCELL GN2 50-megapixel camera. Next, it will feature a new Sony IMX787 64-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a Samsung GM5 50-megapixel telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom, which is also available on the Pixel 7 Pro.
The Pixel 8 Pro’s rear cameras will be assisted by an LED flash, a microphone, and a new 8×8 VL53L8 ToF sensor. The horizontal camera bar will also have an FIR thermometer sensor without any camera capabilities. It will be primarily present on the device for highly precise, non-contact body or object temperature measurements.
The report reveals that the Pixel 8 series will have an adaptive torch feature that can automatically adjust the intensity of the flash depending on the surroundings or camera mode. Another feature onboard is dubbed “Segmentation AWB,” where the captured scene is divided into various segments. This segmentation enables the selective application of different image processing techniques to specific parts of the image, enhancing the overall quality and visual appeal of the photo.
