Google Pixel foldable phone is in the works. A report by 9to5Google that surfaced in January revealed that it could be arriving on the market with the Google Pixel Notepad name. Display analyst Ross Young has shared some vital information about the inner foldable screen and the cover display of the Pixel foldable.
A couple of smartphone OEMs, such as Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, Honor, OPPO, and Vivo have launched foldable phones. However, a lot is expected from the Google Pixel foldable since it will offer a pure Android experience. Here is all the information that is known about the Pixel foldable phone.
Google Pixel foldable display specifications (rumoured)
According to Young, the Google Pixel foldable and the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 will come with similarly sized inner foldable displays. There are rumours that the Z Fold 4 will come equipped with an 8-inch inner foldable screen.
As for the cover display, the Z Fold 4 is rumoured to house a 6.19-inch screen on the outside. In comparison, the Pixel Notepad will have a smaller 5.8-inch cover display, which will offer a wider aspect ratio than the Samsung device.
Past reports have claimed that the Google Pixel foldable will feature the Tensor chip. The device is expected to arrive with a pair of 12-megapixel Sony IMX386 selfie cameras. One of them will be placed on the cover display, while the other will be fitted on the inner screen. The rear camera setup will have a 12.2-megapixel Sony IMX363 primary camera. It may run on the Android 12L OS, which is designed for foldable and tablets.
Google Pixel foldable launch timeframe, price (rumoured)
Young further revealed that the Pixel foldable will debut in Q4 of this year. For years, Google has been announcing its Pixel smartphones in the month of October. The Pixel 7 lineup is likely to break cover in October this year. It remains to be seen whether the Pixel Notepad goes official alongside the Pixel 7 series.
As far as pricing is concerned, the Google foldable is likely to cost around $1,400 (~Rs 1,06,750). This indicates that it will undercut the Z Fold3 by $400 (~Rs 30,500).
