According to a recent memo obtained by Android Police indicates that the search giant Google is planning to kill off its Now launcher. The memo reveals that the launcher will no longer be available on Play Store after Q1 2017. Google has provided the option to interested companies to use its features in their UI, but the Google Now launcher won’t be available for users to download.
Google Now launcher provides a near stock UI and has been a life saver for a lot of users who are fond of pure Android experience. It comes with a clean interface with Google’s very latest search features and information cards which can be accessed with just a simple right swipe from the home screen. Most of the smartphone makers put a heavily bloated messy UI (MIUI, Cool UI, Vibe UI) with their phones and Now launcher emerged as a bliss for users owning these smartphones. That’s why it has more than 50 million downloads on the Play Store.

Currently, Google has two launcher apps on the Play Store, one being the Now launcher and another one is Pixel launcher. The Pixel launcher is exclusive to Google Pixel lineup only. Also, the chances of Pixel launcher to all other devices are also very slim, as Google is pushing hard to sell its Pixel lineup with some “exclusive” features.
