Google Unveils First Ever “Made By Google” Phones – Pixel & Pixel XL

Finally, the moment is here for which we waited so long. Though Google tried its best to keep it a secret, but looking at numerous leaks in past weeks, it seems they failed miserably.



In an event held in San Francisco today, Google unveiled the Pixel and Pixel XL along with Google Home and all new 4K Chromecast Ultra. These much-awaited “Made By Google” devices are finally launched and will be available on pre-order in India starting from 13th of October.

With these Pixel phones, Google is trying to integrate hardware and software for the best of Google experience. These handsets are first ever phones “Made By Google” inside and out. The Google Pixel has the Google Assistant built in right from the core and also supports Daydream VR platform. Talking about the camera, the Pixel phones scored a rating of 89 from DxOMark (independent industry standard camera rating website), which is the highest ever rating for a smartphone camera. Earlier, the iPhone 7 camera got a rating of 86. The Pixel phone also comes with built-in Google Photos where you can upload your photos and videos. Google is also offering free unlimited storage for photos and videos at full resolution in Google Photos. The Pixel phone camera also features HDR+, video stabilization and Smartburst mode. The Google Pixel phone runs on Android 7.1 Nougat and packs in a battery with fast charging capabilities. According to Google, the Pixel phone can provide 7 hours of battery backup with just 15 minutes of charging. And, the Pixel phone comes in two different sizes and are named – Pixel and Pixel XL. Both the front and back glass of the devices are protected with 2.5D Corning® Gorilla® Glass 4. The back glass panel features a fingerprint sensor called Pixel Imprint. You can even swipe it to access notifications and pull down the status bar.

Both the phones are powered by the latest Snapdragon 821 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. The smaller one, Pixel sports a 5-inch Full HD display whereas the bigger one, Pixel XL sports a 5.5-inch QHD display. Both the handsets are available in three colors: Very Silver, Quite Black and Really Blue. Though the Really Blue is a limited edition and available only for the US. Both the devices come with a choice of 32GB or 128GB of internal storage, Bluetooth 4.2, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The Pixel with 32GB storage variant is priced at Rs 57,000 and the 128GB storage variant is priced at Rs 66,000. Whereas the Pixel XL with 32GB storage variant is priced at Rs 67,000 and the 128GB storage variant is price at Rs 76,000. The Pixel phones will be available for pre-order in India on Flipkart, Reliance Digital and on Croma Store starting from October 13th.
