The prices and plans are still being evaluated and tested for the Indian market, and do not reflect any current or confirmed plans from the streaming service.
Here’s the statement from the official HBO Max spokesperson: “We routinely conduct market research with consumers in countries around the world that test a wide range of possible offers and price points for our services. Those being reported that suggest a future launch of HBO Max in India are amongst many being tested and evaluated and do not reflect any current plans.”

HBO Max subscription plans in India have been leaked by OnlyTech publication. The report states that the plans have been revealed as a pre-launch survey conducted by third-party market research firm Nepa. The WarnerMedia Studios-owned television network specifically offers HBO content including originals, TV shows, and movies.
The exact launch timeline of HBO Max is not known yet, however, it is expected to launch soon in the country. The OTT streaming platform will compete against the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, and more.
HBO Max plans in India leaked ahead of launch
It’s worth noting that HBO Max confirmed that it carried out the pre-launch survey but also said that the final subscription plans could be different.
As per OnlyTech, HBO Max will be available in three tiers with the base plan starting as low as Rs 69 per month. It would be called ‘Ad supported’ and as the name suggests, it will allow users to watch the content with ads. The plan will also offer streaming in standard definition (SD) resolution and up to two streams simultaneously across various devices including mobiles, tablets, TVs, etc. The content of this plan i.e. TV series will arrive when the whole season is completed while movies will be available one year post their theatrical or digital release.
The second HBO Max subscription called ‘Mobile’ will ’cost Rs 139 monthly and offer only one stream at a time. It will also support SD resolution content but free from any ads and work on only mobile and tablets. Customers purchasing this plan will get access to TV shows two or three weeks after their global release whereas movies will be available six to eight months after their digital or theatrical run.
Lastly, the top tier subscription is called the HBO Max Standard plan priced at Rs 329 a month. It will offer streaming in 4K UHD resolution without any ads. The plan will be compatible with a wide range of devices and support up to three streams simultaneously. Users of this subscription will get to watch movies and TV shows instantly after they are released globally.
All three plans of HBO Max will allow users to create up to five viewer profiles. The streaming service will also reportedly offer an annual pack for its mobile and standard plans priced at Rs 1,001 and Rs 1,947 with up to 50 percent discount.
