The MG ZS EV is among the most popular electric cars in the Indian market today. As per a new leak, the company is already working on a facelift for the EV and its ICE-based sibling the MG Astor. Bear in mind that these are early leaks, with no confirmation available from the automaker yet, so we’re taking this with a grain of salt.
As per the leak originating from a week-old Instagram post, there are some key changes in terms of the design of the MG Astor. The inclusion of new headlamps is certainly encouraging, while the company seems to have also upgraded the bumper and an all-new front grille. The MG ZS EV, on the other hand, has similar changes in tow, but with a plain grille.

Interestingly, the sides of the cars appear to be pretty much unchanged from the existing versions of the MG automobiles. It’s unlikely that MG will make any changes to the engine/motor of the two EVs, and this should remain a visual facelift.
Similarly, the leak doesn’t tell us if MG will introduce any changes to the interiors of the vehicles. But we cannot rule out the possibility given that facelifts generally include some changes within the cabin as well. The aforementioned Instagram (in Arabic) suggests that the revamped MG ZS EV may reach China first.
While the likes of the Tata Nexon EV are still on top of the Indian EV market, the MG ZS EV has held its own against the home-grown juggernaut. Even though the MG offering is beyond the price range of the Nexon EV, it still has plenty of takers courtesy of the premium features bundled with the automobile.
The Indian EV space is set to get more competitive as Mahindra’s EVs enter the Indian market next year, with more models expected in subsequent years.
