HMD Global schedules MWC 2020 event for February 23rd, new Nokia phones expected

HMD Global had confirmed that it will be holding a press event at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2020 on February 23rd. The tech show will take place between February 24th and 27th. The pre-MWC launch event will take place at 3.30pm on the said date. Recent reports have suggested that the Nokia 9.2 PureView flagship phone is unlikely to be launched at the event. However, the company is expected to announce its first 5G smartphone along with some mid-rangers and a feature phone at the MWC 2020 press conference.

Nokia’s invitation doesn’t reveal any information on the names of the devices that will be announced. Here are some of the Nokia devices that are expected to go official on February 23rd:

Nokia 8.2 5G

Reports have revealed that the first 5G smartphone from HMD Global won’t be a flagship, but an upper mid-range phone named Nokia 8.2 5G. It is said to arrive with a notch-less pOLED or LCD screen and a pop-up selfie snapper of 32-megapixels. It will be powered by a Snapdragon 765 chipset and it could be packed with a 3,500mAh battery with fast charging support. A 64-megapixel quad camera system could be placed on the rear side of the Nokia 8.2 5G. The device has a 3.5mm audio jack and a side-facing fingerprint reader. Its 6GB RAM + 128GB storage edition may cost €459 (~Rs 36,100). There could be a limited edition model with 8GB RAM + 128GB or 256GB storage.

Nokia 5.2

The Nokia 5.2 could be coming with a 6.2-inch LCD display, Snapdragon 632 chipset, 16-megapixel + 8-megapixel dual camera setup and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. Its design could be similar to the Nokia 6.2. The 3GB RAM + 32GB storage edition of the Nokia 5.2 may be priced at €169 (~Rs 13,300). The 4GB RAM + 64GB storage higher variant could be available in select markets. Its pricing is not known.

Nokia 4.3

The Nokia 4.2 may sport a 5.7-inch display with a selfie notch, Snapdragon 439 / 450 SoC, 16-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual cameras and 8-megapixel front shooter. It could be backed by a 3,000mAh battery. Its 2GB RAM + 16GB storage and 3GB RAM + 32GB storage could be priced at $179 and $199, respectively.

Nokia 1.3

The Nokia 1.3 could be an entry-level phone. It may look like Nokia 2.3 and house a display of 6-inches with a waterdrop notch. A MediaTek SoC, 1GB of RAM and 4,000mAh battery may power the phone. It may ship with 8GB of internal storage. The Nokia 1.3  phone may offer a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. It may cost €79 (~Rs 6,200).

Nokia 400 4G

The Nokia 400 4G could be the first Android powered feature phone that will run GAFP (Google Android for Feature Phone) OS. The OS will include Google Assistant. GAPF OS is not official yet, but it may function like KaiOS found on Reliance JioPhones. Apart from LTE connectivity, the Nokia 400 4G phone may come with Bluetooth 4.2 and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi support. There is no word on its pricing. It is likely to cost around ~Rs 4,000.
