The Honor 50, Honor 50 Pro, and Honor 50 SE smartphones have launched in China today. The lineup has arrived as the successor to Honor 30 series that went official in the home market in April last year. The Honor 50 and 50 Pro are the world’s first phones to feature the Snapdragon 778G, which is an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 775G chip.

While their India launch hasn’t been confirmed, the Honor 50 series will receive support for Google Mobile Services (GMS) in a year’s time in global markets.

The Honor 50 has a 6.57-inch OLED punch-hole display that offers a Full HD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. On the other hand, the Honor 50 Pro 5G has a bigger 6.72-inch OLED punch-hole screen with 75-degree curved edges. It delivers Full HD+ resolution of 1,236 x 2,676 pixels, 1.07 billion colours, and a 120Hz refresh rate. For security, the Honor 50 and 50 Pro feature an in-screen fingerprint scanner.

The Honor 50 has a 32-megapixel front-facing camera, whereas the pill-shaped cutout on the Honor 50 Pro’s screen features a 32-megapixel main selfie camera and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens. The rear camera setup of both phones has a 100-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, a 2-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.

The Snapdragon 778G mobile platform fuels the Honor 50 and 50 Pro. The vanilla model comes with 8GB/12GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of storage. On the other hand, the Pro model is equipped with 8GB/12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Both phones run Magic UI 4.2 based on Android 11.

The Honor 50 is packed with a 4,300mAh battery, whereas the Pro model gets a slightly smaller 4,000mAh battery. The Honor 50 comes with support for 66W rapid charging. On the other hand, the Honor 50 Pro supports 100W fast charging, which can reach 0 to 90 percent in just 20 minutes. Both devices are equipped with dual VC liquid cooling technology.

Honor 50 SE specifications and features

The Honor 50 SE has a 6.78-inch LCD screen with a centrally aligned punch-hole It supports Full HD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. For selfies, it has a front 16MP camera, and its rear shell has a 100-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. It is fitted with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The Dimensity 900 chip fuels the Honor 50 SE with 8GB of RAM. The device comes in 128GB/256GB storage, and it also runs on Magic UI 4.2 based on Android 11. The 4,000mAh battery of the Honor 50 SE is coupled with 66W fast charging support. The Honor 50 trio offer common connectivity features like dual SIM with 5G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a USB Type-C port.

Honor 50 series pricing and availability

The Honor 50 SE models such as 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage are priced at RMB 2,399 (~Rs 27,500) and RMB 2,699 (~Rs 30,900) in China. It comes in white, blue, and black colours. The Honor 50 variants like 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8 GB RAM + 256GB storage, and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage are priced at RMB 2,699 (~Rs 30,900), RMB 2,999 (~Rs 34,400), and RMB 3,399 (~Rs 39,000).

The Honor 50 Pro models like 8GB RAM + 256GB storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage are priced at RMB 3,699 (~Rs 42,400) and RMB 3,999 (~Rs 45,800). The Honor 50 and 50 Pro have arrived in colours like black, green, orange, and silver.
