Popular mid-budget smartphone Honor 7X has started receiving Face Unlock feature via a software update. The phone was launched in December last year and came with dual-rear cameras and a bezel-less display. Honor has its own custom OS layered upon stock Android which allows it to provide such useful features before Android does.
The company has announced that the update will be pushed via HOTA (Huawei’s Over the Air update). All the Honor 7X users will receive the new update by mid-March. This is not the first phone by Honor to receive the Face Unlock feature. The Chinese brand had initially offered it for Honor View 10 and later to the new Honor 9 Lite. It is appreciable that the firm is extending this desired feature to its whole bezel-less phone lineup.
In the official statement, P Sanjeev, Vice-President, Sales, Huawei said, “The ‘Face Unlock’ intelligent feature is usually available in flagship-level smartphones. However, Honor has introduced this feature in the coveted Honor 7X.”
The Honor 7X has everything one can ask for in a price of Rs. 12,999. It comes with a dual-rear camera setup that combines a 16-megapixel sensor with another 2-megapixel one. For selfies, the phone comes with an 8-megapixel sensor on the front. There’s a 5.93-inch bezel-less display bearing a Full HD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. The performance is powered by Honor’s inhouse HiSilicon Kirin 659 octa-core chipset along with 4GB of RAM. There are two storage variants of the phone: 32GB and 64GB. You can also expand the storage externally via microSD card up to 256GB.
