Honor 8A with waterdrop notch and Helio P35 goes official in China

Honor has officially introduced the Honor 8A smartphone in China by listing it for pre-orders on its official online store. The handset is packed with entry-level specifications. It features a waterdrop notch display and it is fueled by the MediaTek Helio P35 chipset.

Honor 8A Specifications and Features

The Honor 8A features a plastic rear with a metallic frame running along its edges. It sports a slim profile of 8mm and weighs 150 grams. The smartphone is equipped with a 6-inch IPS LCD Pearl FullView display that offers a screen-to-body ratio of 87 percent. The notched display produces HD+ resolution of 1,560 x 720 pixels, an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and 283 ppi pixel density. The TUV Rheinland certified display of Honor 8A reduces the harmful blue rays to protect the eyes of its users.

The Honor 8A features the modest Helio P35 (MT6765), a 2.3 GHz octa-core processor with 3GB of RAM. It come with up to 64GB of native storage. A dedicated memory card slot that supports up to 512GB microSD cards is available on the Honor 8A.

An 8-megapixel camera with f/1.8 aperture resides on the rear side of the Honor 8A. It carries support for PDAF, HDR, professional mode photography and LED flash. The front-facing fixed focus 8-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture supports panorama mode and enhanced selfie photography. There is no fingerprint scanner on the device which means that users will have to rely on face recognition feature to unlock it.

Honor 8A colors

The EMUI 9.0 based Android 9 Pie OS comes preinstalled on the Honor 8A. It features a 3,020mAh battery. The smartphone allows users to listen to FM radio without plugging in headphones. When it comes to connectivity, the smartphone offers Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth LE 4.2, GPS, microUSB and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Honor 8A Price and Availability

The 32GB and 64GB storage variants of the Honor 8A are now available on pre-order on Vmall. The base model is priced at 799 Yuan (~Rs. 8,150) while the pricing of the 64GB variant is under wraps. Honor will begin the sales of the smartphone in China from January 8th. The three color variants of the Honor 8A such as Magic Night Black, Aurora Blue and Platinum Gold are listed on the Vmall product page.
