Honor 8X With 6.5-inch notch display Launched In India, prices start at Rs 14,999

Huawei’s sub-brand Honor launched the Honor 8X in its home country in September 2018. The device is the successor to the Honor 7X launched last year. Today, the company unveiled the Honor 8X for the Indian market at an event held in New Delhi. Let’s check out the technical specifications, pricing and availability of this device.

Display & Design:

Beginning with the display, the Honor 8X features a large 6.5-inch screen with FHD+ resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It offers a 91 percent screen-to-body ratio for immersive viewing experience. Design-wise, the Honor 8X has slim bezels and a notch on the top. There is a circular fingerprint sensor on the rear. The front and the back panels are fitted with 2.5D glass and an aluminium frame in between. The back panel offers a textured design with reflective patterns that make the phone look premium. The Honor 8X ships in four color variants i.e. Dream Purple, Magic Night Black, Charm Blue and Charm Red.


On the imaging front, the Honor 8X rocks a dual rear camera module comprising of a 20MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture. It is paired with a 2MP depth sensor for clicking pictures with a bokeh effect. Upfront, the phone has a 16MP snapper for clicking selfies. It also offers a face unlock feature. The camera is backed by AI enhancements that aids in clicking better pictures. As for video recording, the device supports slow motion at 120fps, 4X and super slow motion at 480fps, 16X.

Hardware, Battery & OS:

In terms of hardware, the Honor 8X houses Huawei’s octa-core Kirin 710 processor. The device is available in three RAM and storage configurations i.e 4GB+64GB, 6GB+ 64GB, and 6GB+128GB. For storage expansion, there is a dedicated microSD card slot as well. The device also comes with Huawei’s GPU Turbo Tech that helps improve the gaming performance.

The Honor 8X is backed by a 3,750 mAh battery unit which is sufficient for a day’s usage. It also supports fast charging. In the software department, the Honor 8X runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with EMUI 8.2 skinned on the top.

Pricing & Availability:

The Honor 8X is an Amazon exclusive and will go on sale starting from October 24 . The base model with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage is priced at Rs 14,999. The 6GB+64GB variant costs Rs 16,999 and the higher model of 6GB+128GB retails at Rs 18,999.
