Honor, the sub-brand of Huawei has launched a new phone dubbed as the Honor 9 Lite. This smartphone will contend in the budget smartphone segment. The phone was launched last year in the month of December in China. Let’s have a look at what the phone has to offer.
Design and Display
In the design department, the phone features a metal body design giving it a premium and sturdy feel. The fingerprint sensor on the phone is located on the back at an easily reachable position. The back of the phone is built of a glossy material that further adds to its aesthetics. Up front, the device is fitted with a Full HD+ display having a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The display is also layered with 2.5D curved glass to add to the user experience.
Performance and Storage
In terms of performance specifications, the Honor 9 Lite is powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 659 processor accompanied by the Mali T830-MP2 GPU. This would ensure good gaming and overall performance. In terms of storage, the phone will ship in two variants viz. 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage. Both of these variants support expandable storage through a microSD card slot up to 256GB.
Camera and Software
In the camera department, the phone features not one, not two, but four cameras! That’s right. The Honor 9 Lite features a dual-rear camera setup as well as a dual-selfie camera setup. The primary camera setup comprises of a 13MP + 2MP combination whereas the selfie camera setup comprises of another 13MP + 2MP arrangement. With these sensors, Honor is truly looking to make the 9 Lite capable of capturing great images, irrespective of which camera you intend to use. On the software side of things, the phone will run on Android Oreo with EMUI v8.0 out of the box.
Connectivity, Battery and Added Features
In terms of connectivity, the phone checks all the right boxes and offers support for 2G, 3G and 4G VoLTE. It also offers support for Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS. With the Honor 9 Lite, the brand is also offering India-specific features like its Ride Mode (this is similar to Samsung’s S-Bike mode) and Paytm integration. The phone draws power from a 3,000mAh battery located underneath its frame.
The Honor Lite was expected to launch earlier in December itself, however, the phone has finally been launched in India today. Honor will be selling this phone exclusively through Flipkart starting from 21 January for an asking price of Rs. 10,999 for the 3GB variant and Rs. 14,999 for the 4GB variant.
