Huawei’s sub-brand Honor might soon be having a new flagship smartphone up its sleeves. We kid you not. According to a new report, the successor to last year’s Honor 8 might already be in making. Backing the possibility is an alleged render that has surfaced online, indicating what the next Honor flagship, reportedly Honor 9, could look like.
If this render is real, there aren’t major differences except that the fingerprint scanner’s placement. It’s on the front, and we are expecting it to give a sort of haptic feedback, similar to the Huawei P10. If Honor is serious about moving the fingerprint scanner to the front, we will have to bid adieu to a “smart key,” one of the features Honor built into its smartphone. To explain, “smart key” lets fingerprint scanner to do more than just unlocking the phone like launching an app, turning on/off the flashlight, capture photos, etc. (Also See: Fingerprint scanners: Are they worth it?)
To clarify, it’s just a render and Honor hasn’t confirmed anything so far. That said, all these never-ending rumours should be taken with a pinch of salt.
In other news, Honor 8 is currently selling in India at the price of Rs 23,999. Specs-wise, it offers a 5.2-inch 1080p display, HiSilicon Kirin 950 chip, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, 12-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel selfie camera, fingerprint scanner, and 3,000mAh battery.
