Honor 9A and Honor 9S budget phones launched in India: price, specifications

In March, Honor unveiled the Honor 9A, Honor 9C, and Honor 9S smartphones in Russia. Today, the Huawei sub-brand held an event in India to announce the Honor 9A and Honor 9S budget phones, alongside the MagicBook 15 laptop.

The Honor 9A’s key features include a big display, triple rear cameras, and a large battery with reverse charging. On the other hand, the Honor 9S is a compact entry-level smartphone. Both devices lack support for Google apps and services, and instead come with Huawei’s AppGallery platform to let you download supported apps and games.

The Honor 9A has a 6.3-inch display with a waterdrop notch. The screen delivers Full HD+ resolution of 720 x 1,600 pixels. The smartphone is powered by the MediaTek MT6762R chipset and 3GB of RAM. It offers users an internal storage of 64GB, expandable up to 512GB via a microSD card slot. The device boots Magic UI 3.1 based on Android 10.

The Honor 9A has a triple rear camera setup inside a rectangular module. It has a main 13-megapixel camera with f/1.8 aperture, a 5MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The selfie camera is an 8-megapixel unit. The handset is packed with a massive 5,000mAh battery with reverse charging. There is a fingerprint scanner positioned on the rear panel for security.

Honor 9S specifications and features

The Honor 9S is a compact device with a 5.45 inch display with HD+ resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. It is powered by the the MediaTek MT6762R processor. The device offers users 2GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage, and a microSD card for expansion up to 512GB. It also runs Magic UI 3.1 on top of Android 10.

The Honor 9S has a square-shaped camera module on its rear. It houses an LED flash and an 8-megapixel camera with an f/2.0 aperture. For capturing selfies, it sports a 5-megapixel front camera. It is backed by a 3,020mAh battery.

The Honor 9S does not feature a fingerprint scanner. The Honor 9S and 9A comes with common connectivity features like dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Honor 9A and Honor 9S price in India

The Honor 9A is priced at Rs 9,999 and comes in colours like Midnight Black and Phantom Blue. It will go on sale starting August 6th. Honor is offering users a Rs 1,000 discount on the first sale, and an additional 10 percent discount for HDFC credit and debit card users. No-cost EMIs for 6 months are also available.

The Honor 9S on the other hand costs Rs 6,499 and will be available in blue and black colours. It will go on sale via Flipkart staring August 6th, and as part of the first sale offer will be available for Rs 5,999. No-cost EMIs for up to 6 months are being provided.
