Update: The Honor 8A JAT-LX3, JAT-LX1, JAT-L41, JAT-AL00, and JAT-L29 variants have been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance as well. While the Wi-Fi certification does not confirm all the key hardware specifications of the upcoming smartphone, it reveals that the Honor 8A will be powered by a MediaTek SoC. Addtionally, the Wi-Fi Alliance listings also tell us that the smartphone will support the Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n standard and run on the Android 9.0 Pie OS out of the box.

Honor JAT-LX3 Spotted on FCC, Could Launch as the Honor 8A Pro

An upcoming Honor-branded smartphone bearing model numbers was recently certified by Chinese telecommunications regulatory authority TENAA. The smartphone was also spotted on the EEC website carrying the model number JAT-L29. While the TENAA listing revealed the smartphone’s key specifications, the EEC listing confirmed that it would be launched as Honor 8A in Russia and possibly other European markets as well. Another variant of the smartphone has now been spotted on the FCC website.

Honor JAT-LX3 Spotted on FCC

The JAT-LX3 FCC filing reveals the smartphone will have a single camera on the back, coupled with an LED flash. As you can see in the images above, the smartphone will also have a waterdrop notch at the top, which means it will boast a significantly higher screen-to-body ratio compared to its predecessor. However, unlike the Honor 8A variants spotted on TENAA, the JAT-LX3 variant features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor as well. This suggests the JAT-LX3 could be the Honor 8A Pro variant. However, JAT-LX3 will not be only Honor 8A variant. The JAT-LX1 has also been confirmed by the EEC as being the Honor 8A Pro.

According to the TENAA listings for the JAT-AL00 and JAT-TL00 variants, the Honor 8A will come with a 6.088-inch display with 720 x 1560 HD+ resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It will be powered by an octa-core 64-bit processor clocked at up to 2.2GHz, coupled with 3GB of RAM. As for onboard storage, the TENAA listings suggest the smartphone will be available in 32GB and 64GB variants with a microSD card slot for further expansion. In the camera department, Honor 8A will feature a 13MP primary camera at the rear and an 8MP snapper on the front. Fueling the internals of the smartphone will be a 2920mAh capacity battery. It is expected to be available in Black, Blue, Red, and Gold color options at launch. While the Honor 8A Pro may not be identical to the Honor 8A in terms of hardware specifications, we expect them to be similar in most areas. On the software front, both the Honor 8A and Honor 8A Pro are expected to ship with Android Pie-based EMUI 9.0 out of the box.
