Honor MagicBook Pro and Honor Band 5 Launched In China: Price, Specifications

Alongside the launch of Honor 9X, the Huawei sub-brand also announced two new laptops and a wearable device. The new laptops are Honor MagicBook Pro and MagicBook 2019. The fitness band is dubbed as Honor Band 5 and the successor to last year’s Band 4. All the devices have been launched in China. Let’s take a look below:

Honor MagicBook Pro:

The Honor MagicBook Pro sports a 16.1-inch display bearing FHD+ resolution. It is surrounded by slim bezels and offers a 90 percent screen-to-body ratio. The laptop claims to be more compact than mainstream 15.6-inch notebooks. The MagicBook Pro comes with touchscreen functionalities and features a full-sized backlit keyboard. Design-wise, it flaunts an all-metal aluminum-alloy body and ships in a Glacier Silver colour. There is a front-facing camera hidden inside the middle key which pops up when the key is pressed. 

Underneath the hood, the MagicBook Pro is equipped with up to an 8th Gen Core i7 processor. It is paired with a discrete Nvidia GeForce MX250 GPU onboard. The laptop packs up to 16GB RAM and offers 1TB storage in the form of SSD. The laptop comes with seven built-in temperature sensors that monitor the internal temperature in real-time, effectively balancing the airflow and reducing fan noise.

The MagicBook Pro is powered by a 56Wh battery unit that is claimed to provide up to 14 hours of battery life on a single charge. The laptop features a built-in dual-antenna WLAN with a maximum speed of 1733Mbps. 

Alongside the MagicBook Pro, Honor also refreshed its MagicBook 2019 variant with Intel Core processors and Nvidia graphics. The laptop now comes with Core i5 or i7 chipset depending on the user’s need. It is paired with Nvidia GeForce MX250 GPU, 8GB RAM, and 512GB storage. Pricing & Availability:

The base variant of the MagicBook Pro i.e. the one with Core i5 is priced at 5,499 Yuan (~Rs 55,102). The Core i7 model will retail at 6,199 Yuan (~Rs 62,117). The top-end configuration i.e. i7 processor /MX250 graphics /16GB RAM /1TB storage carries a price tag of 7,999 Yuan (~Rs 80,169). As for the MagicBook 2019, the i5 and i7 variants are priced at 4,999 Yuan (~Rs 50,100) and 5,699 Yuan (~Rs 57,122) respectively. 

The MagicBook Pro i5 and i7 variants will be released on July 29 at a discount of 200 Yuan (~Rs 2,004) on the first sale. The top version will be available in August with the exact date unknown at the moment. 

Honor Band 5:

The Honor Band 5 features a larger 0.95-inch AMOLED display with 2.5D glass on the top. The wearable device is waterproof up to 50 meters and is available in three colours Black, Blue, and Light Pink. Design-wise, the Band 5 looks similar to its predecessor. 

The main highlight of Band 5 is its blood oxygen sensor that is capable of measuring oxygen levels in the blood. It is also capable of detecting fatigue, dizziness and poor sleep.  Other standard features on the fitness tracker include a 24×7 heart rate monitor, sleep tracker, and different sports modes. The Honor Band 5 also offers remote camera capture, smart reminders, find your phone, etc that are available on other wearables. The fitness band is claimed to offer 14-day battery life. It comes in two variants – standard and NFC-enabled. 

Pricing & Availability:

The standard Honor Band 5 is priced at 189 Yuan (~Rs 1,900) while the NFC version will cost 219 Yuan (~Rs 2,194). The former will be up for sale later today in China while the latter will be available on July 29 on Vmall and other online retailers.
