Honor Play4 and Play4 Pro with 5G support launched: price, specifications

Earlier in April this year, Honor had launched the Honor Play 4T and 4T Pro in China. Now the Huawei sub-brand has unveiled the Play4 series (without the ‘T’ moniker) in its home country. The lineup consists of a Pro variant and a standard model.

Both devices are 5G compatible, but the latter comes with slightly toned-down specifications. The smartphones also closely resemble the Honor Play 4T series in terms of design. Let’s find out what the Honor Play4 Pro and Play4 have to offer out of the box.

Honor Play4 Pro specifications and features

The Honor Play4 Pro comes with a temperature sensor

The Honor Play4 Pro offers a 6.81-inch FHD+ display with a dual punch-hole cutout. The device features an in-display fingerprint scanner. The back panel houses a rectangular camera setup. The Honor Play4 Pro also comes in a variant with a body temperature sensor that can detect the temperature of the human body and in objects. The smartphone can be availed in three colour options – Mecha Blue, Icelandic Illusion and Fantasy Night Black. 

On the imaging front, the Honor Play4 Pro is equipped with dual rear cameras. It consists of a 40MP Sony IMX600 RYYB sensor and an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom. Up front, the smartphone’s punch-hole cutout houses 32MP+8MP camera sensors. 

Under the hood, the Honor Play4 Pro is equipped with a Kirin 990 chipset with support for dual-mode 5G networks. It comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The smartphone’s battery capacity has not been revealed, but it supports 40W fast charging. Software-wise, the Play 4 Pro runs Magic UI 3.0.

The Honor Play4 is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 800 chipset

Coming to the Honor Play4 the device comes with slightly different specifications compared to the Pro model. It features a 6.71-inch FHD display with a single punch-hole camera. The device is offered in Iceland Phantom, Phantom Blue and Phantom Night Black colours. The smartphone sports a quad-camera setup comprising a 64MP main shooter, 8MP wide-angle lens, a 2MP macro sensor and a 2MP depth of field unit. The device comes with a 16MP selfie camera. 

On the hardware front, the Honor Play4 is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 800 processor with 5G connectivity. It is available in 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 128GB RAM and storage options. The smartphone is equipped with VC liquid cooling and a 12-layer heat dissipation structure. It is backed by a 4,300mAh battery with 22.5W fast charging support. 

Honor Play 4 Pro and Play4 pricing and availability

The Honor Play4 Pro 8GB + 128GB variant is priced at RMB 2,899 (~Rs 30,750), while the variant with temperature measurement costs RMB 2,999 (~Rs 31,820). The base 6GB RAM variant of Honor Play4 retails at RMB 1,799 (~Rs 19,092) while the 8GB RAM model carries a price tag of RMB 1,999 (~Rs 21,215). Both devices are now available for pre-order in China.
