A few weeks back, Huawei sub brand Honor announced a new smartwatch dubbed Watch Magic in China. The Honor Watch GT shares quite a lot in common with the Huawei Watch GT but happens to be more affordable. A new Honor smartwatch bearing the model number ELF-G10 has now been certified by the Bluetooth SIG, suggesting that the company may soon roll out yet another new smartwatch.
Honor to Launch a New Smartwatch Based on a MediaTek SoC Soon?
The Honor ELF-G10 Bluetooth certification does not tell us much about the upcoming smartwatch, although it does confirm that the wearable will be powered by a MediaTek platform. MediaTek doesn’t hold a particularly large share of the smartwatch SoC market, so it is certainly a little surprising that the next Honor-branded smartwatch will be powered by a MediaTek platform. As confirmed by the Bluetooth certification, the upcoming ELF-G10 will support the Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy standard. Aside from the model number and Bluetooth version, there is nothing that is known about the upcoming smartwatch.
Honor’s latest smartphone, the Watch Magic sports a classy circular design similar to traditional watches. It comes with a 1.2-inch AMOLED display featuring 390 x 390 pixels resolution and an impressive pixel density of 326 PPI. The wearable boasts a 316L stainless steel frame with 9.8mm thickness. In terms of key specifications, one of its key highlights is the presence of a triple frequency GNSS receiver (GPS + GLONASS + Galileo). It offers continuous heart rate monitoring with the Huawei TruSeen 3.0 technology. Additionally, the wearable comes with 24-hour blood pressure monitoring. The smartwatch can track various physical activities such as running, walking, treadmill running, cycling, swimming, mountaineering, and more. Thanks to built-in NFC, the watch supports Huawei Pay, AliPay as well as bus cards in China. The one area where the Honor Watch Magic is very different from the Huawei Watch GT is battery life. Instead of a large 420mAh battery on the Watch GT, Honor’s Watch Magic is equipped with a 178mAh battery. Honor claims the Watch Magic can last up to seven days under moderate usage.
