The Honor V10 is the latest flagship phone from Huawei’s sub-brand that was officially unveiled today through a launch event in China. Most of the full screen smartphones that have launched so far including the recently launched OnePlus 5T feature rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. However, the Honor V10 is the first full screen phone to arrive with a front-facing fingerprint reader.
Design and Display
The Honor V10 flagship phone has arrived with a metal unibody design and it sports a super-slim profile of 6.97 inches. The smartphone will be available in four color choices like Magic Black, Aurora blue, Beach Gold and Charm Red.
The V10 borrows several features such as display, chipset and OS from the Mate 10 Pro flagship that was made official in China last month. Apart from supporting an aspect ratio of 18:9, the 5.99-inch LCD panel of the smartphone supports Full HD+ resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 pixels. The display is covered by a layer of 2.5D curved glass.
Performance and Variants
The Honor V10 is powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 970 chipset that is coupled with its own Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for handling Artificial Intelligence (AI) tasks. Hence, the chipset brings deep learning and machine learning capabilities on the Honor V10.
For instance, when someone else is trying to use the smartphone, it will be able to detect it and automatically hide sensitive information such as calls and messages. Apart from the fingerprint scanner, the smartphone also features facial recognition through the frontal camera for added security. Other AI capabilities of the phone include AI voice assistant, AI driven real-time translation and scene recognition while shooting photos.
The 64 GB Honor V10 comes in two RAM variants of 4 GB and 6 GB. The 128 GB model features 6 GB of RAM. For more storage, users can add a microSD card to the hybrid dual SIM slot on the phone.
The Android 8.0 Oreo that is overlaid with EMUI 8.0 skin comes pre-installed on the V10. It has a 3,750mAh battery that is coupled with 5V/4.5A SuperCharge fast charging feature from Huawei. It includes usual connectivity features like VoLTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth.
The Honor V10 has a dual camera setup on its rear panel. Unlike the Mate 10 Pro, it does not carry Leica branding. It includes an f/1.8 aperture primary sensor of 20-megapixel and an f/1.8 aperture secondary sensor of 16-megapixel. It is equipped with features like PDAF dual-core technology and dual-LED flash. For shooting selfies, the V10 is blessed with a 13-megapixel snapper. When the Portrait Mode is enabled for shooting selfies, the AI chip assists in beautifying the images.
Pricing and Availability
The Honor V10 with 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage are respectively priced at 2,699 Yuan (~Rs. 26,400) and 2,99 Yuan (~Rs.29,300). The highest variant with 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage costs 3,499 Yuan (~Rs. 34,200). In China, the reservations of the Honor V10 have already started after its launch event. It will be available for purchase at 10:08 AM from 5th December through Huawei Mall and other Chinese retailer sites.
The Honor V10 is expected to receive a global unveil on 5th December through a launch event in London, the U.K. As far as Indian launch is concerned, the V10 is speculated to hit the country in January 2018.
