Honor V10 Goes Official With 18:9 Display, Front Fingerprint Scanner, Kirin 970

The Honor V10 is the latest flagship phone from Huawei’s sub-brand that was officially unveiled today through a launch event in China. Most of the full screen smartphones that have launched so far including the recently launched OnePlus 5T feature rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. However, the Honor V10 is the first full screen phone to arrive with a front-facing fingerprint reader.

Design and Display

The Honor V10 flagship phone has arrived with a metal unibody design and it sports a super-slim profile of 6.97 inches. The smartphone will be available in four color choices like Magic Black, Aurora blue, Beach Gold and Charm Red.

Honor V10 Color Variants

The V10 borrows several features such as display, chipset and OS from the Mate 10 Pro flagship that was made official in China last month. Apart from supporting an aspect ratio of 18:9, the 5.99-inch LCD panel of the smartphone supports Full HD+ resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 pixels. The display is covered by a layer of 2.5D curved glass.

Performance and Variants

The Honor V10 is powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 970 chipset that is coupled with its own Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for handling Artificial Intelligence (AI) tasks. Hence, the chipset brings deep learning and machine learning capabilities on the Honor V10.

For instance, when someone else is trying to use the smartphone, it will be able to detect it and automatically hide sensitive information such as calls and messages. Apart from the fingerprint scanner, the smartphone also features facial recognition through the frontal camera for added security. Other AI capabilities of the phone include AI voice assistant, AI driven real-time translation and scene recognition while shooting photos.

For shooting selfies, the V10 is blessed with a 13-megapixel snapper. When the Portrait Mode is enabled for shooting selfies, the AI chip assists in beautifying the images.

The Honor V10 is expected to receive a global unveil on 5th December through a launch event in London, the U.K. As far as Indian launch is concerned, the V10 is speculated to hit the country in January 2018.
