On: January 29, 2019

Alongside the launch of the Honor View20 today, the Chinese company also announced two wearable devices for the Indian market – the Honor Watch Magic and Honor Band 4 Running Edition. Let’s take a look at the specifications and features of both the devices.

Honor Watch Magic:

The Honor Watch Magic was launched in China in November 2018. The device features a 1.2-inch touchscreen colour display with an AMOLED panel. It bears a resolution of 390 x 390 pixels producing a pixel density of 326ppi. Honor claims that the Watch Magic is the slimmest smartwatch in the market. It measures 9.8mm in terms of thickness. Design-wise, the smartwatch looks premium with a stainless steel build. The straps can be changed easily. The Watch Magic is waterproof up to 50 meters. It is available in a Lava Black color.

In terms of performance, the Watch Magic offers 7-day battery life. It is powered by a dual chipset for better performance. The device is equipped with built-in GPS with support for three Satellite Positioning Systems (GPS, GLONASS and GALILEO) for tracking activities. The smartwatch can be paired with both Android and iOS devices.

Like most smartwatches, the Watch Magic comes with a heart rate sensor which keeps a tab on your heart in real-time. The smartwatch also supports a variety of outdoor and indoor activities like mountain climbing, cycling and even swimming. It can track distance, speed, altitude, vertical velocity, pressure measurement, swimming posture recognition, swim strokes and more. The Watch Magic also offers a Professional Fitness Mentor that provides customised running courses and professional guides from beginner to advanced levels.

The Honor Watch Magic comes with TrueSleep technology to monitor sleep and breathing patterns. The smartwatch also displays notifications for incoming calls, messages, hotel stays and flight information (available only on phones running on EMUI 9.1 or later).

Honor Band 4 Running Edition:

The Honor Band 4 Running Edition is a toned-down variant of the standard edition that was launched in December 2018. The Band 4 Running Edition does not feature a colour display and a heart rate monitor. While the standard edition was launched in solid colors, the wristband of a Running edition is available in five dual colour finishes of Black, Blue, Green, Pink, Red, and Yellow.

In terms of specs, the Running Edition has a 0.5-inch OLED display. The band is made of a skin-friendly TPU material that is lightweight. It is equipped with a six-axis sensor that offers running detection by measuring elements such as ground contact time, foot strike, landing pattern, step length, landing impact and swing angle. Apart from wearing the band on their wrists, users can also use it in ‘foot mode’. In this mode, the fitness band aims to fix the user’s running posture and helps amateur and professional runners avoid injuries.

The Band 4 Running Edition offers vibration-based notifications for calls and messages in wrist mode. It also displays alarm reminders, time and date, step activity, calories and distance. There is a sleep tracker that monitors your sleeping pattern. The device is water resistant up to 50 meters. The Running Edition lasts up to 21 days in standby mode and 2 weeks with regular use.

Pricing & Availability:

The Honor Watch Magic has been launched in two variants – Premium Sports version and Leather Band version. The former is priced at Rs 13,999 while the later will cost Rs 14,999. The Band 4 Running Edition is priced at Rs 1,599. Both the wearables will be available for purchase in the country through Amazon and Honor’s official website.
