Sending a DM on the Instagram website is as easy as it’s on the smartphone app, so there’s not a steep learning curve involved. You can chat with your followers or friends on the platform or even those who you don’t follow. Instagram lets you share feed posts, stories, IGTV videos and reels through a direct message. Users can also directly share media files from their phone to an Instagram contact.

In case you are new to the platform and wondering how to message on Instagram on PC, here’s a detailed guide.

  1. Go to Instagram login page.
  2. Log in using your Instagram credentials or sign up.
  3. Just like on the mobile app, you can go to a page and tap on the ‘Message’ button to send DM.
  4. You can check all your existing conversation by tapping on the DM button in the top-right corner.

In the Instagram DM window, users can search for multiple users and start a chat to create a group. Additionally, the existing DMs can be segregated into Primary and General tabs. The less important DMs can be moved to the General tab by long pressing on them and clicking ‘Move to General’.
