CES 2020: HP Spectre x360 15 and Elite Dragonfly G2 launched

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2019 last year, HP had introduced 13-inch version of the Spectre x360 convertible notebook. Now, the company has unveiled the Spectre x360 15 laptop with a 15.6-inch display surrounded by super-slim bezels ahead of CES 2020. In addition, the company has also launched an updated version of the stylish HP Elite Dragonfly laptop that was made official in September. At CES, it also unveiled an updated device called Elite Dragonfly G2. It is a 5G-ready notebook. Also, it is the first laptop ever to come equipped with a built-in Tile Tracker.

HP Spectre x360 15 comes with 15.6-inch OLED display and longer battery life

Compared to the 13-inch model, the newly announced Spectre x360 15 comes with some significant improvements. The slim bezels around the 15.6-inch OLED display of 15-inch Spectre x360 make it appear like a 14-inch laptop. The notebook offers a 90 percent screen-to-body ratio. HP has confirmed that it will be also available in a 4K OLED display variant with a wider colour gamut.

The 10th generation Intel Core i7 processor powers the Spectre x360 15 along with Nvidia GeForce graphics. The notebook comes with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB SSD. The device offers a battery life of up to 17 hours. HP Fast Charge will allow the device to gain 50 percent of battery in 30 minutes.

The 15-inch Spectre x360 notebook offers users Wi-Fi 6, HDMI, two Thunderbolt 3 ports and a USB-A slot. It comes with a dedicated numpad on the keyboard. Other features of the Spectre x360 15 include a kill switch for the webcam, dedicated mute key, IR camera and a fingerprint sensor. The laptop is expected to go on sale in March in the US with a price tag of $1,599 (~Rs 1,15,000).

The HP Elite Dragonfly G2 offers 5G support and an inbuilt Tile tracker

The Dragonfly G2 resembles its predecessor in terms of exterior design. The 2019 model came in 8th gen Intel CPU versions along with LTE connectivity. The all new Dragonfly G2 will be available in 10th gen processor variants and it will be equipped with 5G support. For 5G connectivity, the notebook is fitted with a Qualcomm X55 LTE + 5G modem. The device will be available with up to 16GB of RAM and it can be availed in 1TB and 2TB SSD versions

It is also the first laptop with a built-in Tile tracker. Users can also opt for the premium service from Tile to get alerts when the laptop is separated from them. The notebook features a 13.3-inch full HD display. There is a Sure View Reflect privacy technology onboard that prevents others from viewing the contents of the screen. It will come loaded with Windows 10 Home or Pro. The Dragonfly G2 promises to last for up 24.5 hours on a single charge.

The shipments of the Elite Dragonfly G2 will start in early February. There is no word on the pricing of the device. HP is expected to begin its pre-orders soon online.
