HTC U12 With QuadHD+ Bezel-less Display and Snapdragon 845 Coming Soon

After the launch of flagship devices like the Samsung Galaxy S9 & S9+ at MWC, its time other smartphone makers also launched their flagship phones. The HTC U12 is likely to be the next high-specced smartphone to watch out for. As per recent industry rumors that have floated, the phone will be quite a beast and will offer a healthy competition to offerings from other rival brands. Here’s what we know so far.

To start off with, the display on the HTC U12 will be quite a stunner. A 5.99-inch quad HD+ screen having a resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels is what the phone will rock. To add to that, the smartphone, just like other phones launched since the end of 2017, will trim of its bezels and have an 18:9 aspect ratio.

In the optics department, the HTC U12 will come with a dual-rear camera setup featuring a 12MP sensor combined with a 16MP snapper. This in collaboration with some software enhancements is likely to capture some great images in both good as well as low light conditions. Up front, the phone will be fitted with an 8MP selfie camera capable of taking good selfies. The front camera will also serve for Face Unlocking authentication.

Underneath its hood, like other flagship smartphones of 2018, it will be powered by the Snapdragon 845 processor made by Qualcomm. It will also have the Adreno 630 GPU for graphics-intensive operations. On paper, the phone seems to be equipped to handle any application or game you can throw at it. To top that off, the phone will pack in either 4GB or 6GB of RAM to allow seamless multi-tasking.

On the software side of things, the HTC U12 will be layered with HTC’s Edge Sense 2.0 user interface on top of Android Oreo, out of the box. We expect the new user interface to be more refined and with Android Oreo running the show, the phone is expected to be a champ when it comes to day-to-day usage.

As far as connectivity goes, being a top-of-the-shelf device from HTC, it will feature all the conventional solutions including Bluetooth, NFC, dual-band WiFi, and a Type-C charging port. Depending on the market, the phone will also support one or two SIM slots. In the battery department, the U12 will be fitted with a 3,420mAh with support for fast charging.
