HTC’s new mixed reality headset will be unveiled at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023, which is set to take place on January 5th, 2023, in Las Vegas, US. The Verge has released a teaser image of the headset to give a first look at its design.
HTC has been the only brand that has been actively launching AR / VR devices. In October, Meta unveiled the Meta Quest Pro with a price tag of $1,499 (~Rs 1,23,900). In November, the Sony PlayStation VR2 went official with a starting price of $549 (~Rs 45,400). At present, there is no word on the moniker of HTC’s upcoming product. However, Shen Ye, the HTC global head of product, has provided some information to the publication about the upcoming mixed reality headset.

A teaser image of HTC’s upcoming mixed reality headset
HTC’s new mixed reality looks like goggles from the front. A camera can be seen on the left side of the device. It is unclear whether it has another camera on the right side. According to Ye, the company’s next mixed-reality headset can be used for gaming, entertainment, and exercise. He added that it will also offer more powerful use cases. It is expected to handle productivity and enterprise apps.
The device will have colour passthrough, allowing users to see their surroundings while experiencing mixed reality. It will support a high dynamic range, which will possibly let users read texts without taking it off.
The headset is expected to offer up to two hours of battery life. It will offer controllers with six degrees of freedom and hand tracking. It will be a lightweight and compact device.
HTC’s upcoming mixed reality headset is likely to rival the Quest Pro because of its similar design. Hopefully, the Taiwanese company will share information on it in the coming days.
