Back in 2018, Huami had acquired California-based Zepp. In August this year, the Xiaomi subsidiary rebranded its Amazfit app to Zepp. A month later, the company launched two smartwatches under its Zepp branding called Zepp E Square and Zepp E Circle.
Huami clarified that Amazfit and Zepp brands will exist side by side. Now the company has introduced a new Zepp Z smartwatch making it the second offering in Zepp lineup. The wearable device features a premium design like the Amazfit GTR 2. Let’s take a look below.
Zepp Z specifications and features
The Zepp Z comes with a 46.3mm circular dial and offers a 1.39-inch AMOLED display. It features a titanium alloy frame and three buttons on the side for various features. The classic crown is used to scroll and slide on the display. The smartwatch comes with 50 watch faces from the Zepp app. It is water-resistant up to 5ATM.
The Zepp Z smartwatch is equipped with a 24 x 7 heart rate monitor and SpO2 sensor for blood oxygen saturation detection. It also features stress level and sleep quality monitoring. The wearable device supports 12 sports modes and is also equipped with GPS and GLONASS for precise location tracking for outdoor sports. The smartwatch comes with PAI health assessment system.
The Zepp Z features Amazon Alexa voice assistant along with a built-in microphone. Users can control smart home devices, check the weather, set reminders etc by giving voice commands. However, the feature will be available via an OTA update and not right out of the box. There is also an offline assistant that supports up to 58 voice commands.
The Zepp Z is backed by a 340mAh battery unit that is claimed to last up to 15 days with typical usage and up to 30 days with basic use. It can be topped up via magnetic wireless charging. The smartwatch packs various sensors including geomagnetic, gyroscope, accelerometer, and ambient light sensor. It supports Bluetooth 5.0 and is compatible with devices running on Android 5.0+ and iOS 10.0 or above.
Zepp Z pricing and availability
The Zepp Z smartwatch carries a price tag of $349 (~Rs ) and will be available for purchase on Zepp site and Amazon in the US and Europe later this month. The smartwatch is offered in a Brown leather strap. Huami also says that it will announce an ECG version of the Zepp Z in the future. There is no word if the Zepp Z smartwatch will come to India.
