In a bid to expand its wearable ecosystem, Huawei has announced that it will be launching the Kirin A1 dedicated wearables chipset in the country. Products powered by the chipset will be available in India next month. The Chinese tech giant claims that the Kirin A1 is the world’s first Bluetooth 5.1 dual-mode BT/BLE wearable processor. The chipset features an advanced Bluetooth processing unit, a powerful unit to process audio, an ultra-low-power application processor and an independent unit to manage power, which all are placed in a small 4.3mm x 4.4mm body. The brand claims that the Kirin A1 is capable of providing significantly improved battery life for wearables.
Huawei Kirin A1 specifications and features
The Huawei Kirin A1 chipset comes with an energy-efficient Cortex-M7 processor, which has a low energy consumption rate of 10uA/MHz. The brand claims that the Cortex-M7’s multi-sensors, as well as other sensors like capacitive, optical heart rate, accelerometer and six-axis, can provide the most accurate body recognition and monitoring capabilities. The processor has a maximum frequency of 200MHz to provide an accurate and real-time reading of heart rate and more.

Huawei hasn’t yet announced which of its Kirin A1 processor-powered products will land in India. However, we can expect the Huawei FreeBuds 2 earphones and Watch GT 2 smartwatch to launch in the country. We will bring you more details as soon as the brand announces anything, so stay tuned.
