Huawei held a launch event in China today to announce the Maimang 9 5G smartphone. It is one of the cheapest 5G-ready phones from Huawei. Some reports have claimed that the Maimang 9 could be rebranded as the Enjoy 20s in certain markets, but there is is no official confirmation on this yet.

One of the attractive features of the Maimang 9 is that it comes with a massive display with a tall aspect ratio. The back panel of the phone has a 64-megapixel triple camera system. The Maimang 9 has a large-sized battery that supports fast charging.

The Huawei Maimang 9 houses a 6.8-inch IPS LCD panel that features a punch-hole at the top-left corner. The screen supports full HD+ resolution of 1,080 x, 2,400 pixels. It offers a screen-to-body ratio of 90.33 percent. The handset is fitted with a front-facing camera of 16-megapixels.
A vertically-positioned triple camera setup with an LED flash unit alongside can be seen on the rear shell of the Maimang 9. It has a main 64-megapixel camera with f/1.79 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor with 120-degree field-of-view, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.
The phone runs Android 10 with EMUI 10.1. It is powered by the Dimensity 800 5G chipset, with up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. There’s also a microSD card slot for expansion. The phone draws power from a 4,300mAh battery and comes with support for 22.5W fast charging. Lastly, it features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
Huawei Maimang 9 pricing and availability
The 6GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 128GB storage models of the Maimang 9 are priced at RMB 2,199 (~Rs 23,500) and RMB 2,399 (~Rs 25,650). It will go on sale in China starting from August 7th and it can be purchased in colours like black, green and white.
