In October, Huawei had launched the Mate 20 series of smartphones in Europe. The same month, the Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 X and Mate 20 RS Porsche Design smartphones were made available in Huawei’s home country of China. The Chinese manufacturer has now confirmed that it will be launching the Mate 20 Pro smartphone in India on November 27th.
The Huawei Mate 20 Pro features loaded specifications. The handset is fueled by the Kirin 980 which is the world’s first 7nm chipset. The SoC is equipped with Mali-G76 graphics and a dual NPU unit for an enhanced AI experience. The handset is loaded with Android 9 Pie that is customised with Huawei’s EMUI 9.0 interface.
The other salient feature of the Mate 20 Pro is the Leica engineered triple camera setup which includes an ultra-wide angle 20-megapixel lens, 8-megapixel 3x telephoto lens and 40-megapixel main sensor. The front camera is a 24MP unit.
Compared to current flagship phones from other companies, the Mate 20 Pro includes the largest battery with 4,200mAh capacity. The huge battery is coupled with TUV safety-certified 40W SuperCharge rapid charging technology from Huawei. It allows the phone to gain 70 percent of battery life in just half an hour. The handset also supports for 15W wireless charging as well as reverse wireless charging for using it to charge other devices wirelessly.
The Mate 20 Pro promises high speed 4.5G connectivity thanks to a Cat. 21 LTE modem that can produce download speeds of up to 1.4 Gbps. The smartphone also supports the world’s fastest Wi-Fi connection speeds. In simpler terms, it can download a 2GB file in just 10 seconds. For accurate GPS positioning, the Mate 20 Pro carries support for dual-band GPS positioning.
The Huawei Mate 20 Pro features a 6.39-inch dual edge curved OLED screen with Quad HD+ resolution. The display of the phone is embedded with a fingerprint scanner. The notch present on top of the display houses front-facing and 3D facial recognition sensors.
In Europe, the handset carries a starting price of 1,049 Euros (~Rs 85,000) for the 6GB RAM model that comes with 128GB of RAM. The highest configuration variant of the phone has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of inbuilt storage. In India, smartphone will be available online exclusively through Amazon. The ‘notify me’ page of the device is already live on the e-commerce site. There is no confirmation on whether India will be receiving Mate 20, Mate 20 X and Mate 20 RS Porsche Design phones later on.
