Recently, Lenovo-owned Motorola launched its foldable razr 2019 (unboxing) smartphone in India. South Korean brand Samsung had also released its Galaxy Z Flip in the country last month. Now it looks like Huawei is planning to introduce its latest Mate Xs foldable device in India. The company has started teasing the smartphone on its official India Twitter handle hinting at an imminent arrival. However, there is no word on the exact launch date yet. To recall, Huawei’s first-generation Mate X was limited only to the Chinese market. The brand had already announced last month that it will launch the Mate Xs globally.
Huawei Mate Xs specifications and features
The Huawei Mate Xs foldable phone boasts of an 8-inch AMOLED display bearing a 2,480 x 2,200-pixel resolution. The device folds outwards and offers two displays when folded, including a 6.6-inch main and 6.38-inch secondary screen. Huawei says that the Mate Xs is equipped with an improved hinge mechanism and a falcon-wing design for enhanced durability. The foldable device features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
The Mate Xs sports a LEICA branded quad-camera setup. It comprises of a 40MP main sensor with f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP telephoto lens, 16MP ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 3D ToF depth camera. The rear cameras also work as front snappers since users can fold the device for selfies and video calling.
On the hardware front, the Mate Xs is equipped with a Kirin 990 chipset with an integrated 5G modem for 5G connectivity. The device packs 8GB RAM and offers 512GB internal storage. The foldable smartphone draws its power from a 4,500mAh battery unit with support for 55W fast charging. Software-wise, the Mate Xs runs EMUI 10.1 based on Android 10 and ships with HMS instead of Google apps and services.

The Mate Xs is priced at €2,499 (~Rs 1,94, 800). At this price, it would be the most expensive foldable smartphone in India.
