MWC 2019: Huawei launches MateBook 14 and new MateBook X Pro

Huawei has announced three products under its MateBook series today at its pre-MWC event, the MateBook 14 and updated MateVook X Pro which was released in 2018. Alongside, the company has announced a touchscreen version of the MateBook 13 that was announced at CES.

Huawei MateBook 14: specifications, features and price

The Huawei MateBook 14 carries a 14-inch FullView display with minimum bezels along the sides. The screen-to-body ratio of the gadget is 90 percent and the resolution of the display panel is 2,160 x 1,440. It supports 100 percent of the sRGB colour gamut, 1000:1 contrast ratio and a peak brightness of up to 300nits. Along with a 10-point Touchscreen, the offering has Huawei’s One Glass Solution which features numerous track inputs with precision. It has an innovative recessed camera to protect the user’s privacy since it is hidden under a key.

The Huawei MateBook 14 relies on the 8th Gen Intel Core i7 8565U processor along with NVIDIA GeForce MX250 GPU. The notebook also comes with an intelligent filtering technology called Huawei Shark Fin 2.0 for monitoring the system temperature and ensuring quiet operation. It has a 57.4Wh battery which could play 1080p videos for 15 hours. The 65W charger can provide three hours of continuous usage with 15 minutes worth of charge. The Huawei MateBook 14 features updated Share 3.0 OneHop which allows a seamless transfer of data from a smartphone to PC and vice versa. One can also share clipboards across Huawei phones and notebooks with Clipboard Sharing feature.

The offering comes with a Fingerprint Power Button 2.0 which can unlock and power on/off the device. Additionally, the MateBook 14 has Dolby Atmos sound experience and supports Amazon’s Alexa along with Microsoft Cortana. The MateBook 14 will start at €1,199, while the MateBook 13 with a touchscreen will cost €1,399.

Huawei MateBook X Pro update: specifications, features and price

The updated MateBook X Pro carries a borderless 13.9-inch LTPS FullView 3:2 display panel which supports 10-point multi-touch and a resolution of up to 3,000 x 2,000 pixels. The product carries a 91 percent screen-to-body ratio and the display supports 100 percent of the sRGB colour gamut. It features a metal unibody chassis and measures just 14.6mm in thickness. It weighs only 1.33kg and comes in two shades – Mystic Silver and Space Grey.

It comes with up to an 8th Gen Intel Core Intel Core i7-8565U processor, NVIDIA GeForce MX250 graphics and up to 16GB of RAM when it comes to performance. It has an intelligent cooling system to switch between active and passive modes, and two Huawei Shark Fins 2.0 to produce a higher air output. It also sports intelligent filtering technology which helps in quieter operations and temperature monitoring. The MateBook X Pro also features Dolby Atmos quad speakers along with a power-saving mode.

The Huawei MateBook X Pro is equipped with a new Thunderbolt 3 port which supports two-way data transmission at a speed of up to 40Gbps. It supports the world’s fastest Wi-Fi on a notebook and Bluetooth 5.0 with doubled data transmission speeds with a four times wider signal coverage and eight times stronger broadcasting capabilities over its previous iteration. For interconnectivity, the offering sports Huawei Share 3.0 OneHop which can seamlessly perform two-way document transfers along with general audio and video transfers. The Clipboard Sharing feature is available as well along with Fingerprint Power Button 2.0. It will start at €1,599.
