Huawei MatePad Pro 5G tablet with two-way wireless charging announced

Huawei had launched the 4G version of the MatePad Pro in China last November. Today, alongside the launch of the Huawei Mate Xs, the company also announced a 5G version of the same tablet for international markets. The device comes with the same set of specifications as its Chinese counterpart, apart from the processor. The MatePad Pro is expected to rival the iPad Pro and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S6. Let’s take a look at the technical specifications below.

Huawei MatePad Pro specifications and features

The Huawei MatePad Pro features a 10.8-inch punch-hole display bearing a 2,560 x 1,600-pixel resolution. It comes support for an optional stylus called M-pencil that can be magnetically attached on one side. The tablet is touted to offer the world’s highest screen-to-body ratio of 90 percent. Huawei says that it has moulded the cellular and Wi-Fi antennas directly into the tablet frame, which means there are no visible antenna lines. On the audio front, the MatePad Pro is equipped with quad-channel and quad-speakers tuned by Harman Kardon. The tablet features an 8MP front camera and a 13MP rear camera.

In terms of hardware, the MatePad Pro is equipped with a Kirin 990 5G SoC. It is offered in two RAM and storage configurations of up to 8GB and 512GB respectively. The tablet draws its power from a 7,250mAh battery with support for 40W SuperCharge technology. It is also the world’s first tablet with two-way wireless charging. The device can be charged wirelessly at a speed of 27W and it is also capable of reverse charging compatible devices (like the M-pencil, smartphones, headphones) at up to 7.5W speeds. Software-wise, the Huawei MatePad Pro runs on open-source Android without Google services onboard.
