Huawei has been teasing the MatePad Pro tablet from a while now. Today, the Chinese tech giant has finally launched the slate in its home market. The Huawei MatePad Pro has arrived as the first tablet in the world to sport a punch-hole in the screen that houses the selfie camera. The device is a flagship-grade Android tablet that features the company’s latest HiSilicon chipset called the Kirin 990. The MatePad Pro offers highly narrow bezels on all sides of the screen and supports a detachable keyboard for a full-fledged computing experience. The Android tablet is going to compete against the likes of other flagship tablets such as the Apple iPad Pro and Samsung Galaxy Tab S6.
Huawei MatePad Pro specifications and features
The Huawei MatePad Pro flaunts a 10.8-inch IPS LCD display bearing a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels and DCI-P3 colour gamut. The tablet sports a high screen to body ratio of 90 percent. The Kirin 990 processor onboard the slate has been manufactured utilising the 7nm fabrication process. The tablet comes in two RAM and storage configurations – 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB. Software-wise, the device boots Android 10 operating system out of the box with the EMUI 10 skin on top.
In terms of optics, the Huawei MatePad Pro features a 13-megapixel primary camera at the rear that has features like f/1.8 aperture, an LED flash unit, and autofocus functionality. On the front, the slate has an 8-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video calling. In terms of connectivity, the MatePad Pro comes in Wi-Fi only and 4G LTE variants. The other connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, and a USB Type-C port. The device comes with Histen 6.0 audio support and four speakers to provide an immersive media experience. A 7,250mAh battery with a massive 40W fast charging support keeps the whole package running.
Huawei MatePad Pro price
The Huawei MatePad Pro Wi-Fi only model’s price starts at RMB 3,299 (~Rs 33,600), while the 4G LTE-enabled variant of the slate is being offered starting from RMB 3,799 (~Rs 38,700). The slate will be available with an optional magnetic keyboard and M-Pencil stylus, which cost RMB 499 (~Rs 5,000) and RMB 699 (~Rs 7,100) respectively. The company has also announced that it will be releasing the Huawei MatePad Pro 5G edition in the first quarter of 2020.
