According to a report by 91mobiles, Huawei is working on the world’s first tablet with a punch-hole display. The device in question is the reportedly the MediaPad M7, which is the successor to the recently launched the MediaPad M6.
According to the leaked renders, thanks to the punch-hole display, Huawei has made the bezels on the MediaPad M7 slimmer and also eliminated the home button. There is no physical fingerprint scanner either, which hints at the presence of an in-display fingerprint scanner. The back of the tablet only reveals a protruding camera module housing two sensors and an LED flash. At the bottom, there is a USB-C port and speaker grille. The MediaPad M7 is expected to ship in Black and White colours.
The renders also reveal a magnetic keyboard and M-Pen stylus. It’s unclear how the keyboard will be connected to the tablet, but we expect it will be through pins at the rear. From the leaked image, the M-Pen is expected to connect magnetically to the side of the tablet and charge wirelessly, much like the Apple Pencil with the iPad Pro.
The rest of the specifications of the MediaPad M7 remain a mystery. It is expected to be powered by Kirin 990 SoC paired with up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB onboard storage. We expect the MediaPad M7 to debut next year, since the MediaPad M6 was launched just a few months ago.
