Huawei Nova 2S Launched with Four Cameras and Bezel-less Display

The world’s third largest smartphone maker Huawei added a new phone to its Nova series today. The newly launched phone goes by the name of ‘Nova 2S’. It comes with all the trending features one can expect from a 2017 smartphone, a bezel-less display and dual cameras on the rear and front. Let’s take a look at what this phone has to offer apart from this.

Since it is a bezel-less smartphone, the Nova 2S comes with a 6-inch Full HD+ display bearing a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. The FullView display enhances the phone’s look as well as its viewing experience. The phone is available in five different colours: Black, Gray, Red, Blue and Rose Gold.

On the camera front, the Nova 2S has a dual-camera setup as mentioned earlier. There’s a 16-megapixel RGB sensor coupled with a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor fitted in the phone. Even on the front, there are two cameras: a 20-megapixel shooter along with a 2-megapixel sensor. There’s an LED flash on the rear as well as on the front.

In terms of performance, the Nova 2S is powered by Huawei’s in-house HiSilicon Kirin 960 processor. There are different variants of the phone with varying combinations of RAM and storage: 4GB RAM + 64GB storage, 6GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage.

One of the most interesting things in the Nova 2S is the presence of Face Unlock. This is made possible owing to the processor’s NPU (Neural Processing Unit) that also gives it AI capabilities. To compete with this technology, Qualcomm also unveiled the Snapdragon 845 chipset that has similar abilities. Read more about it here.

The Huawei Nova 2S runs on EMUI 8.0 built on top of Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. There’s a 3340mAh battery which can be charged through the USB Type-C port provided in the phone. Huawei has also offered support for SuperCharge technology that will charge the phone to 50% in just 30 minutes.

The Huawei smartphone is priced at CNY 2,699 (~ Rs. 26,300) for the 4GB + 64GB variant, CNY 2,999 for the 6GB + 64GB (~ Rs. 29,220) model and CNY 3499 (~ Rs. 34,000) for the 6GB + 128GB one. Currently, the phone is only available in China. We might see the India launch through its sub-brand Honor in the coming months.
